My spring makeup consists of all shades pink and peach. I love pastels for spring (nothing original there) and creating soft, natural looks. I’ve split everything up into categories but, be warned, there is a lot I’m going to share. Grab a snack and let’s dive in:
Over the past year or two I’ve developed a rather large nail polish collection, and you will be hard pressed to find me with unpainted nails.
Smith & Cult- porn-a-thon: This brand is a recent discovery but it is truly amazing! Great consistency, color pay off, and color selection! Porn-a-thon is a perfect peach. Not too orange but not too light either. I love the bottle design (and their over the top names), my only complaint is the brush being a little short.
OPI- A Great Opera-tunity: I got this in the OPI Venice mini set last year, but you can still get full sizes. This color is the best of peach and pink. Perfect color for fingers and toes (and makes you look extra tan!)
Orly- Cotton Candy: Another perfect blend of peachy-pink but this one is brighter.
Wet and Wild- Pardon my Peach: Another recent discovery is Wet ’n Wild’s new 1 step gel polishes. They are surprisingly great quality for less than $3! This is a true peach color that is just bright enough but not neon-ish.
OPI- Barefoot in Barcelona: I love this color on my toes year round! This color is a more nude version of those peachy pinks. It has more of a brown undertone, but still perfect for Spring!
Sinful Colors (Kylie collection)- Koral Riff: This is probably the least expensive nail polish you can find. Normally they’re $1.99 but of course the Kylie collection is $2.99. Still, the quality is there and the colors are awesome. This shade is true coral. It has the slightest blue shift but you really have to look to see it.
Orly- Cake Pop: Very very light, cool-toned pink/lavender shade. I only like this one for my fingers since it almost looks white. But a very classy pastel shade for spring.
Ulta- Lilac-ing you: Ulta brand has hidden gems and their nail polish is one of them! Color is self explanatory; pale lavender/lilac shade.
Essie- Cocktail Bling: I got this in a set this past Christmas, but full size is still available. For those of you who aren’t fans of pink or peach, this is a pale, grey-toned blue. Good for year round wear, but also fits in the spring pastel category.
Whim- Lemon Drop: When else would you were a yellow polish but in Spring! This yellow is just the right shade, and I think many different people can wear this. It’s a pale yellow and isn’t bright.
OPI- Small + Cute = <3 Hello Kitty collection: I recently discovered the Hello Kitty polishes and purchased a few. I am in love with this shade! It’s a true light pink that is slightly bright. I got so many compliments when I wore this shade!
I like my foundation fresh, light, and dewy for Spring. Here’s a few favorites.
Bare Minerals- Complexion Rescue: This stuff is AMAZING. I used it all last Spring and Summer, and was the first foundation I grabbed once it started getting warm out this year. It’s a whipped gel-like consistency that leaves you skin feeling hydrated. It’s sheer coverage and honestly gives everyone’s skin a healthy glow. SPF 30
Becca- Aqua Luminous Perfecting Foundation: I love Becca products and this is no exception. Sheer to medium coverage and super dewy finish. A very thin/runny consistency but that makes it feel like second skin. My only complaint is the color selection. The lightest shade is too dark for me, but in Spring/Summer time, I can make it work with some self tanner. No SPF
Smashbox- Camera Ready BB Water: Similar to the Becca but the shade actually matches. Again, a very thin/runny consistency and this one is more sheer and not quite as dewy, SPF 30
Tarte- BB Tinted Treatment Primer: I love this stuff! Literally feels like nothing on my face but has good coverage! Silky feeling and more of a matte finish. SPF 30
For Springtime I love a pink blush! I like to focus mostly on the face for fresh Spring makeup, and blush is the perfect finish for that look.
Milani- Luminoso: Duh. Everyone loves this blush and for good reason! Perfect soft peach with subtle shimmer. Looks good on everyone!
Milani- Dulce Pink: Pretty soft pink with shimmer for that healthy glow. Not so pink that it is hard to wear.
Tarte- Dollface: I love Tarte blushes! This is a true baby doll pink. Don't be afraid of it though, because adding this to the apples of your cheeks gives that fresh, healthy, Spring look.
Wet and Wild- Apri-Cot in the Middle: This is a new product but I’ve quickly fell in love! A very natural looking blush in a soft peach. It adds some color without looking too much like a blush.
Being fair-skinned I tend to go a little heavy on the bronzer, but I do tone it down in the Spring time. I like a light bronzer for this time of year to keep everything looking natural.
Too Faced- Milk Chocolate Soleil: This is a great bronzer for fair skin. It helps warm up the face but doesn’t leave you looking orange. Plus is smells like chocolate..mmm!
Physicians Formula- Butter Bronzer: This product just recently launched and it is well worth the hype! Buttery is a perfect description and it just warm enough to give you that healthy bronzed glow. It has a very subtle sheen to it, but I wouldn't call it a shimmer. And this one smells like pina colada!
Of all the face products, I love highlight the most. I can go ham when highlighting my face! I just wanna look like JLo, ok!
Benefit- Watt’s Up: This was the first highlight I ever bought and I still love it just as much! It is a cream-to-powder formula so it applies easily and looks very natural. It’s a soft golden color with a subtle pearl glow.
Smashbox- Soft Lights: This is a really pretty pink highlight. It doesn’t look pink on the skin, but has silvery pink undertones. Just keeping up with the pink theme here..
Colourpop- Smokin’ Whistles: Colourpop has some of my favorite products and highlights are definitely one of them! They are a cream product so I just dab it on my cheekbones and die a little inside when the light hits it *heart eyes*
Hold you breath because I couldn’t narrow down lip products! I usually wear a matte finish, but Spring is when I break out the glosses!
Buxom- White Russian: Cult favorite for a reason. Perfect light pink to add to any lipstick or lipliner for pinky pout.
NYX- Butter Gloss in Creme Brulee: Great peachy-pink nude gloss that wears great along or on top another lip product.
Ulta- Butter Balm in Fiona: Another Ulta hidden gem. These are creamy and not sticky and have enough pigment to wear alone. This is a pretty baby pink. Not to mention they all have Disney princess names!
Ulta- Butter Balm in Rapunzel: This shade is a true peach and looks great on all skin tones!
Wet and Wild- Don’t Blink Pink: This is a hot pink matte shade. Hot pink is more Summery for me, but pair it with simple eye and face makeup, it’s a perfect pop for Spring.
Wet and Wild- Think Pink: True pink shade with a matte finish. One of my favorites for Spring.
Milani- Matte Blissful: Very similar to the one above, but is more of a cool toned pink.
Maybelline- Peach Poppy: This is such a pretty light peach color. It’s bright (almost neon) but still wearable. I’ve noticed it does separate throughout the day, so a lipliner is needed.
Lorac- Matte Lip Color in Peach: More of a true peach shade than the one above. Very wearable.
Colourpop- Ultra Matte Lip in Clueless: Very pretty pinky-mauve liquid lipstick. It’s a little darker than the others but still very appropriate for Spring.
Nars- Dominique: This is a very unique shade that I love to wear in the Spring. It is a cool-toned, light purple.
Essence- Wish Me a Rose: A true baby pink color. Very creamy formula and super affordable!
Ulta- Zest: The only true peach lipliner I’ve found. Stays on really well.
Sephora- Nectarine: Bright orangey-coral color. Creamy to apply and can easily be worn on it’s own.
I’m not going to list specific eyeshadows but just describe my typical Spring eye look. I like to wear shades of browns, keeping it on the lighter side. I’ll wear some pinks to create a monochromatic look with pink blush and lip color as well. And I love using a light shimmery pearl or champaign color for the inner corner of my eye. I keep eyeliner to a minimum in the Spring and switch my eyebrow pomade to a pencil and/or powder. Everything I use is to create a natural and fresh look.
Congrats, you made it to the end! Happy Spring everyone
